On April 15th we had Lisa Blake take family photos of us down at the beach in Oceanside! We brought the dogs and tried to have as much fun with it as we could! Here are some of the photos we loved!
On April 25th Layla turned 22 months old! I can hardly believe we are starting to plan a 2nd birthday party! Time sure does fly when you are having fun! She now talks all the time! She speaks in sentences and has 16 teeth, she is so fun but definitely needs reminders at times to be polite! We are trying very hard to turn “NO!!!” into “No thank you” and “MINE!!!!” into “Please” She uses her please and thank you all the time but is testing the limits like a toddler is supposed to! She continues to amaze us each day! She uses words for things we did not even realize she knows! She says, “I unt dat” for I want that, and can count to 20 with a little help. She is still in love with Sesame Street (probably because it is the only thing she is allowed to watch) and loves to read, swing, and go to “bebe Gap” to shop!
Swimming Lessons Layla continues to strive in swimming! She loves being in the pool and loves her swim instructor “Mr. Brett” These photos were actually taken in March but did not make it in the last blog update! At this point she was learning to use her arms to pull herself through the water! She can do it on her own but needs to be reminded to use one arm at a time! We call them her “one, two’s”
Here she is waiting for it to be time to get in before lessons to play! They are allowed to play on the steps 5 minutes before their lesson and she has a blast putting her own face in the water and splashing around!
All wet and ready for her lesson!
Being guided into the step by Mr. Brett
reminding her to use her “one, two’s” with a gentle tap on her arm when it is time to use it!
Coming into the step
Good job little fish.
Ladybug Day at Weidner’s Gardens
On Saturday May 1st we went to Ladybug Day at Weidner’s Gardens a local nursery! IT was a very low key home spun little event but we had fun! We ran into Sean, Val, and Ella our next door neighbors! We even got to pet a pony and paint our very own ladybug rock which now sits in our garden
Petting the pony that didn’t “bite”
Val with our girls
Layla loves to give kisses, especially to Ella!
MOTHER’S DAY 2010!
On Sunday May 9th I celebrated my second Mother’s Day as Layla’s mommy! I asked for the Legoland Resort Pass which I got along with a box of See’s, breakfast in bed and a wonderful day filled with family! We hosted a Mother’s Day Barbeque for family!
Layla got to help Nonna and Nanny open their presents!! We gave them some of the new photos from our beach photo shoot framed!
Layla enjoyed snuggling with Michelle and playing with her phone! It is great these two ladies are getting to know each other!! I think the better they know each other the more likely it will be that Layla walks down the isle at Michelle’s wedding successfully!
We enjoyed LOTS of hugs and kisses!!
Our First trip to Legoland!
Layla and I did not hesitate when it came to using our Legoland Pass! We went the day after Mother’s Day, May 10th and have been a bunch since then!
Playing in the toddler play ground area!
Waiting in line, our very first line, for the train!
More fun, sliding down the little slide in the toddler area!
And Aiden too! What a sweetie!! We already need to watch out for the boys!
We stopped by Las Vegas in Miniland!! Now that we have been to Legoland so many times we know that we love playing in Miniland and pushing the buttons too!
Hayden and Layla got a kick out of the Funtown Fire Show! It is so silly!
Layla and Ella’s First Sleep Over!
May 14th was Sean Carroll’s Farewell party and Layla had Ella sleep over so Sean and Val could have a fun night and not have to worry about putting their Ella bug to bed!
Legoland with Daddy for the first time!
On Saturday May 15th Layla got to take Daddy to Legoland for the first time!! He had so much fun, he bought himself the Resort Pass too!
On the Fairy Tale Brook boat ride!
On the Choo Choo with Daddy!
Going down the big slide!
Being silly with Mommy waving hello and getting kisses from Daddy while waiting in line for the Coast Cruise!
Building with Legos!
Riding on the zippy fast airplanes with Mommy!! These are one of Layla’s favorite rides, it makes me think she is going to be like her mommy and her papa inheriting their love for roller coasters!
Layla’s very first princess!
Ice Cream from Sir Scoops a Lot on Castle Hill is a delicious tradition. Mmmmm ICE CREAM!
All tired out after a fun filled day at Legoland with Mommy and Daddy!
Dyeing Easter Eggs. We dyed eggs the week before Easter!
April 1st we went strawberry picking with Carson and Melissa at the U-Pick fields in Carlsbad!
Play Group Easter Egg Hunt
My Play Group hosted an Easter Egg Hunt at Calavera Hills Park Friday April 2nd of Easter Weekend. Guy took that day off to get ready for our HUGE Easter party so he was able to join us for the egg hunt in the park!
On Sunday April 4th we hosted Easter as we do every year except for last year because we were in the midst of the remodel! This year was our largest by far! There were 42 people! It was crazy but fun and we love to do it
First thing we did in the morning was have Layla open her Easter basket! This year she got some candy, an Elmo book, Alice in Wonderland on DVD (which just came out of the Disney vault) a beach towel, and some new crayons!
Dustin decorated the front walkway and the steps with the Easter Bunny’s foot prints!
Layla even got to go on an Easter Egg Hunt at home on Easter day!
Guy, in his element!!
Another happy day hosting for our family and friends! Easter 2010 was a success!
Lunch Date! On April 8th My Dad “Papa” Nanny, and Poppy came over for a lunch date at our house!! Layla ended up running around in the hose water while Guy squirted her!!
On April 17th we planted our garden. This year it was quite a bit of work because Guy had to rebuild our raised garden planter boxes. We have a larger garden space now after the remodel. Guy built really nice redwood boxes that should really never need to be replaced! It will be fun to have a garden this year, we missed it last year since we were in the midst of the remodel and living in a rental! Can’t wait to share the gardening experience with Layla and we are all REALLY looking forward to homegrown tomatoes this year!
Building the garden boxes with Daddy!
Planting the garden with Daddy! Layla helped plant the beets! She had fun getting dirty and hosing herself off!
Ella’s First Birthday Party!
On Saturday April 10th Layla got to go to our wonderful next door neighbor’s house for their daughter Ella’s first birthday party!! Guy got her dressed in her party dress and took her over ( I was at Michelle’s bridal shower) I arrived later and got to enjoy watching her have fun! Layla had a blast with all of the babies, kids, and in the jumpie!!
ELMO LIVE!! On Saturday April 24th, Nicole, Guy, and I took Layla to see 1,2,3, Imagine with Elmo and Friends! It was a blast!! We had great seats, 3rd row right off the side of the stage! Characters walked right by us! Layla sat there wide eyed and took it all in!! Layla waved to all of her Sesame Street Friends! She still talks about it and remembers that she touched Ernie’s hand and how big it was!
Layla, taking it all in!
And of course Layla had to get an Elmo Balloon and a program, which we read almost everyday!! Elmo live was a blast! It was so special to be able to share something she enjoys!
