Carson’s Scooby Doo Birthday Party March 12th
We drove up to Temecula for Carson’s 5th Birthday Party. It was a Scooby Doo themed party and it was super fun! There were clues the kids had to solve to find the missing birthday cake. They had to solve the clues by doing things such as finding missing Scooby Snacks in the yard, wrapping each other up like mummies in crape paper, popping ghost balloons, and the final clue was hidden in the Scooby head pinata!
Here is Layla searching the yard for Scooby Snacks!
Carson in action searching for Scooby Snacks!
Layla proud of her Scooby Snack stash! Which she insisted we bring home for Lou and Will, since they were really dog biscuits!
Their next task was to wrap a partner up like a mummy! So Layla got mummified!
She is even adorable as a mummy!
The next clue directed them to pop the ghost balloons!
Carson getting read to pop a ghost balloon!
The clue inside of the final ghost balloon instructed the kids to find the final clue inside Scooby’s head! Pinata time!
Here is another great action shot of Carson! He means business! Inside of the pinata, not only was their candy but the final clue which lead the kids to solve the case of the missing cake!
It was a great party, super fun ideas, makes me want my own Scooby Doo party!
Farmer’s Market March 13th
One of our favorite places to go as a family is to the local farmer’s markets! Layla loves to go especially when we were picking up our CSA box at the Leucadia Farmer’s Market from Suzie’s Farm! We now pick it up at a home in Carslbad but make regular trips to the farmer’s market to fill in or get something specific! She was always especially stoked when there was broccoli in the box! Her fave! She is on the Suzie’s Farm website chomping down on her favorite veggie, broccoli!
Mmmm! There was broccoli in the box!!
She continues to chow on her favorite snack perusing the farmer’s market! It is hilarious, other kids have pastries and treats and Layla has her broccoli!
Cupcake Mess! March 14th
Layla decided to do some body painting with the frosting on a chocolate cupcake one night instead of eating it! She definitely does not have a sweet tooth, but her arms and hands were awfully sweet!
Layla had fun, Mommy, on the other hand, was not too stoked! Guy couldn’t help but laugh!
What a mess! A chocolate covered Layla! Yum!
St. Paddy’s Day March 17th
When we woke up on St. Patrick’s Day, the leprechauns had come to our house! So Layla searched around the house to find the gold they had left!
She had to look for clovers!
There was gold sprinkled on her dresser and even some golden chocolate coins!
and more golden chocolate coins!
She’s got that right! She is certainly lucky to be Layla!
Later in the morning we had a St. Patrick’s Day play date with our Little Sprouts Play Group! This kids had another hunt to go on to find hidden treasures and treats!
Here she is listening carefully for the directions…
Finding her first treasure, a super cool pencil,
here is her full bag of leprechaun treasures and treats!
I though leprechauns had green tongues but I guess this one has a blue one!
Enjoying some fun green treats! Layla had one bite of the cupcake, as usual and decided she would rather eat the green grapes, edamame, and celery!
Here are the Little Sprouts sporting their St. Paddy’s Day green!
Layla always has a hug for her little friend Alex! So sweet!
That night we hosted St. Paddy’s Day dinner like we always do! We enjoyed the company of Nanny, my Dad, Donna, Nicole, and Mark! Guy corned his own corned beef this year, we had potatoes, cabbage, and rye bread! Then Guinness Floats for desert, maybe she is having a plain vanilla ice cream cone!I have no idea what she is eating in this picture, but it is a cute one!
Kidsville March 18th
Kidsville is a fun place to play indoors! Here is Layla playing with her friend Max!
Making Dough with Daddy March 18th

Jack’s Superhero Party March 19th
We all had lots of fun at Jack’s Superhero Birthday Party! Layla made her own superhero cape, enjoyed pizza, cake, and games!
Mommy’s Early Morning Meetup at the Zoo March 23rd
The San Diego Zoo hosts special VIP tours for mom groups! We were lucky enough to get to go on one, for some behind the scenes petting zoo fun! On the way down in the car Layla had one of her “car sick all over herself” moments, and of coarse it was when I had no change of clothes and nothing was open ie, Target, the mall etc. So… she got a new outfit at the Zoo’s gift shop! She had a blast feeding all of the petting zoo animals, learning about different feet, hooves, paws etc, riding the sky buckets and visiting the awesome Elephant Odyssey! All in all, besides the barf, it was a great day at the San Diego Zoo, another place we are so very lucky to have near where we live
Part of the early morning VIP tour is getting into the Zoo before everyone else. It is quiet and empty and our little group was the only group of children in the children’s zoo. They all had fun feeding the petting zoo animals. Layla was talking to all of them trying to get them to eat what she was offering
After hanging out and feeding the petting zoo animals the kids were able to participate in a little class about the difference in animals. The zoologists showed pictures and asked questions about which animals had which kinds of feet, fur, skin, mouths, and beaks etc… Each child got a turn to go up, answer and help. It was very fun and educational too!
Then we had to have some time on the play ground in the Children’s Zoo area!
Next, was a ride on the Sky Buckets, which are not even close to my favorite part of any day at the zoo! Yikes!
We ended our day with a trip up to Elephant Odyssey!
First Trip to Chuck E. Cheeses March 25th
Layla had been asking to go to Chuck E. Cheeses for a few months, another of those things I have no idea how she knew about! We had never been before. So one rainy day we drove to the Chuck E. Cheese in Vista, I had heard it was the cleanest, nicest (if that is even possible) one in North County! It was great! We got there right when it opening on a rainy weekday and were the only two people in there for at least an hour or two! We had the entire place to ourselves! Layla had a ton of fun playing games and riding lots of rides, watching the little shows, meeting the big Cheese himself and enjoying lunch!
watching the show…
Meeting the big Cheese…
and lunch! What a fun day! She has been asking to go back but I tell her it is only a place we go on a rainy day once in a while!
Mickey Mouse Pancakes March 26th
Cooking with Daddy is a favorite past time! Free hand Mickey Mouse pancakes are a thing of the past now too. On one of our recent trips up to Disneyland we bought a Mickey Mouse shaped pancake mold!
Mmmm! All in all March was a great month!
