Another busy month filled with fun spring events! Gardening, Easter Egg Hunts, Dying Easter Eggs, Going to visit the Easter Bunny, and Easter! We also celebrated “Uncle Marky’s” Birthday, had a daytrip to Disneyland, and spent some time with our Little Sprouts play group friends There were also a few “firsts,” we took Layla to her first Padre Game, she had her face painted for the first time, and we met Courtney and Dean’s baby boy Anderson for the first time!
Garden April 10th
Layla loves to garden! I think her favorite parts are the dirt and eating tomatoes off the vine! Here she is “helping Daddy” plant the tomatoes aka playing in the dirt, filling her crocks with dirt, and probably even eating some dirt!
Rainbow Fish Play Date & Park Photo Shoot April 13th
We belong to an amazing play group who not only puts on fun play dates they are also educational, many times including crafts which Layla loves! On this particular day we had a Rainbow Fish Play Date. Angie, the organizer read the book Rainbow Fish and then we made a super cute Rainbow Fish craft using coffee filters, markers, foil, and water! Very fun.
Park Photo Shoot At the park I took the opportunity to take a few photos of Layla. One of which was used for her third birthday party invitation.
Disneyland with “B” Girls April 14th We always have fun at Disneyland but today we were able to meet some old friends that moved away, up at Disneyland. Brenda and her girls Brooklyn and Briana also have Disneyland Passes. We had lots of fun in Fantasy Land and playing in Tarzan’s Tree House. We will have to meet there again soon.
It’s a Small World is a must! So cute that all three girls sing along!
Layla and Brooklyn knocked on the White Rabbit’s door but he wasn’t home!
Waiting for our turn on Casey Jr’s Circus Train.
A snack stop near Dumbo!
Layla and Briana on the Storybook Land Boat ride.
Playing in Tarzan’s Tree House.
Movie Night with The Catilus Family April 15th
Every Friday night at our house is “Movie Night.” We have pizza for dinner, whether we make it at home, order in, or go out and Layla picks a movie for us to watch together as a family! Sometimes we even make popcorn or have ice cream! It has become a fun tradition which we all look forward to every week! This Friday night The Catilus Clan joined us for pizza, movies, popcorn and ice cream!
Stone for Uncle Mark’s Birthday! April 17th A large group of us went to Stone Brewery, Bistro and Gardens to celebrate Mark’s Birthday!
Layla and Mark’s Niece, Vivian.
Mark and Deblois.
Happy Birthday Uncle Marky! We love you!
Mmmm birthday cake!
At one point the adults were all at the table, I looked over and Layla had climbed up onto Vivian’s lap to listen to her read a story! So sweet of Vivian.
Two of the nicest Guys I know! Guy and Mark have been two of the best of friends since they were little boys and still are! Very cool.
A cheesy grin.
Little Sprouts Play Group Easter Egg Hunt April 20th
We went on an Easter Egg Hunt at the park with our Little Sprouts Play Group! Layla had a blast running the “egg in a spoon” race, hunting for eggs, and having some snacks with her little friends!
My sweet little bunny!
Layla trailing behind Philip and Cohen during the egg in a spoon race.
She was not supposed to hold onto the egg with her hand to keep it in the spoon but she had to finish the race any way she could.
Layla and the infamous tongue! Run Bunny Run!!
All lined up and ready to hunt for eggs!
There’s that tongue again!
Sampling too! Yum, Jelly Beans.
After the Easter Egg Hunt we headed home for a nap. Of course Layla wasn’t tired (or al least that is what she said.) She decided to read just a couple books in her bed! This is what I found when I checked on her. There must have been about 30 books in her bed and she was passed out! Not tired at all! Ha.
Padre Game April 21st We were able to attend a Padre game with my parents who happened to be invited to sit in the Cox luxury box for an event with Round Table Pizza owners! It was awesome! Food, drinks, treats, blankets, comfy leather couches, t.v.’s everywhere, even flat screen t.v’s in the bathroom!! The Padre’s lost but we still had a great time in the box.
Riding the Coaster down to meet Daddy.
Enjoying a hotdog at the Ball Park!
Hanging out watching the game with Nonna.
The Petco Dog and Cat even stopped by the box to say hello and take pictures with the kids!
Dyeing Easter Eggs April 22nd
Another fun Easter Family tradition is dying Easter eggs.
Silly Bunnies April 23rd How cute are the two of them pretending to be bunnies in their ears!
Easter 2011 April 24th
Easter Morning Layla woke up on Easter morning and knew the Easter Bunny had come.
So we put on her ears and began our very short search for her Easter basket.
She found it in a matter of seconds behind the big chair in her room.
The Easter Bunny brought her all sorts of wonderful treats! A Tangled figurine set, The Beast doll to go with her Belle, Dora and Diego toothbrushes, a Pocahontas DVD, a chocolate rabbit, jelly beans, chocolate eggs, carrots, and chicks, and other sweet treats too.
It was fun to watch her open up her chocolate rabbit and take a bite of the ears first. I always remember eating the ears first as a kid!
Next, some chocolate eggs…
The Easter Bunny also brought some fun surprises to Ahta for Layla. She got new Little Mermaid Jammies,
a Dora coloring and activity book and other fun treats!
Easter Dinner Every year, except for the year we were out of the house for the remodel, we host Easter dinner! We usually host in the backyard, the weather cooperates and it is beautiful. This year, on the other hand, the weather did not cooperate, and at the last moment, we moved tables and chairs inside and had a cozy yet very loud, indoor Easter dinner. If it was going to rain, this was the year for it to do so because we had a smaller crowd than we normally do. It was a bit stressful to move it all indoors but ended up being a great day! Now, we know if we had to we could have it indoors!
Also, my cousin Michelle told me my face was glowing on Easter. I thought it was because I had just switched to mineral based make-up, unbeknownst to me, I was very early pregnant! We found out a couple days later, I guess I was glowing, and not just because I switched my make-up!

Our beautiful little Layla, who at this point was over her dress! She kept asking to take off her dress and put on her pajamas. We told her as soon as we took some photos of her in the beautiful dress that daddy picked out she could change into her jammies!

So here she is out of the dress and in her jammies! Every year we also do a little Easter Egg hunt during our Easter festivities! This year it was indoors which was fun and different!
The older kids hide the eggs and they got very creative! One was hidden on Papa’s belly!
They even hid one in Jocelyn’s hair!

Storytime at the Carlsbad Library April 25th
We love our Monday Story Time with Miss Amy.
Meeting Baby Anderson April 27th Layla and I went to meet Courtney, Dean and Arden’s new baby boy! We brought lunch to share and dinner for them that night and held a tiny and perfect baby! It was wonderful to meet him! Congratulations Marshall Family!
Passed out with Papa April 28th
My dad babysits for me when I go to my acupuncture appointments. On this day, I came home to find Layla passed out right next to her Papa!
First Face Painting April 30th Layla got her face painted at an event we went to. She chose a large flower and was so excited! She was very still and patient and very proud of the finished product!
Alseep on the way home.
Fashion Layla’s Way Later that day Layla showed us her style, face painted, shorts, sunglasses, and a pair of my black strappy high heels! It was quite a look! but I guess if anyone could pull it off, it’s Layla!
