On May 18th Greg planned another great adventure for us! We were taking a fairy to Cozumel to swim with the dolphins!
Layla was not too happy to take a picture with the statue of the man in the sombrero!
Buying our ferry tickets to Cozumel and back!
Time and people move a bit slower here! We were waiting for Starbucks to open well after the posted open hours! Sam started knocking on the door when he saw someone inside finally! Our ferry ride was a whole other adventure!Layla and I sat next to an open window and the spray from the ocean totally and completely soaked us!
We arrived in Cozumel, Sam got cleaned up and Guy gave me an extra T-shirt he had! We waited for our dolphin experience while we watched the dolphins which got us so excited!
Guy and Sam watching the dolphins!
Watching the dolphins and getting so excited!
Getting ready, life jackets on!
This was when I mentioned I was pregnant and was informed that I was unable to swim with the dolphins! I was heartbroken as this was something I had always dreamed of doing! I guess the dolphins emit a sonar that can cause you to go into early labor! I am grateful that we knew and nothing happened and sad that I was only able to watch! My husband and kids had an amazing time though and someday I WILL swim with dolphins!
Our dolphin experience!
Learning how to give the dolphin signals!

On May 17th we flew into Cancun, Mexico so that we could be a part of Greg and Venus’ wedding in Playa Del Carmen, meet Jonathan, and have a fun family getaway/”babymoon!”
The first night in Playa Del Carmen we walked into town from their house, checked out the sights and had dinner! It was great to see them both and to get to finally meet baby JP!
The next day we went to Hidden Worlds, Greg’s adventure eco-tourism park and we swam in real Cenotes!
The picture above is Layla riding on the 4 wheel drive vehicle through the jungle getting ready for our Cenote adventure at Hidden Worlds Adventure Park!
Sam, ready for adventure!
Layla tried really hard to be brave and get into the Cenote to swim but the fear got the best of her. Honestly, I can not blame her, as cool as it was, it was a bit frightening! Cenotes are underground river systems. We were in a dark cave with bats! The water was cold but amazingly clear! Your skin feels amazing when you come out of the water because of all of the natural minerals in the water from the stone. We learned that the Mayan people hid from the Spanish in the Cenotes. They considered them one of the realms of life, the underground world. The roots of certain trees are also found through the ground seeking the water in the Cenotes! The is how the Mayans found the cenotes to hide in, they looked for this certain tree who’s roots seek the water of the cenotes. Swimming in the Cenote is something I will never forget and I am so grateful we had the opportunity to do! I even did it while pregnant with Luke!
Greg said there are hard core scuba divers who pay a lot of money and are very highly trained and certified that come to dive in the cenotes. They follow the cave and river system underground and under water and may not see light for hours! There are certain passages that are so tight they have to remove their tanks and pass them through the crevices then pass through themselves! Amazing, scary and something I would never even imagine doing!
The roots of the tree I was talking about!
After swimming in the Cenotes at Hidden Worlds, we went to see the ancient Mayan ruins in Tulum! It was awesome, totally my wheelhouse!
We had to pay to do the tourist photo with the guys dressed in traditional Mayan dress.
This was some other crazy Mayan thing these men do where they hang from ropes around their ankles and swing around a pole while playing flutes! Very cool to watch!
Greg pushing a passed out Layla in the stroller!
Everything we saw and everything on these grounds meant something. There were symbols of fertility, death, wealth, kings, leaders etc. The shapes of the buildings and the directions in which they face all had significance and was planned out.
Me and my kiddos! Layla and Sam were more interested in the iguanas than the ruins but it is very cool that they were part of this adventure!
Guy and Sam cruising with our tour guide, who was wonderful and so knowledgeable! Thank you Greg and Venus for this amazing day and the awesome sights and experiences!
This is a passage way that was built to the height of the Mayan people. The Mayan Indian people were much shorter than we are today.
Seeing these ruins was amazing! It was hot and humid but to see something I had studied in school and walk through history immersed in culture was awesome!
Pool time! It was definitely time to cool off after a hot humid day walking around the Mayan ruins in Tulum!
A preschool field trip to the agricultural center on Mira Costa Campus!
The kids had a great time looking at and touching different plants and trees. They saw succulents, fruit trees, flowers, and a huge field of lavender! It was a fun day!
